Two $2,000 scholarships awarded to graduating seniors pursuing careers in STEM

June 14, 2016 – Astria Solutions Group, the parent company for DocStar, an award-winning developer of automated Accounts Payable and enterprise content management software solutions and Computer Professionals International, announced that they have awarded two Clean Tech ECHS scholarships to two local high school seniors: Fonda-Fultonville High School student Simon Will and Saratoga Springs High School student Thomas Marron.

In its second year, Astria’s scholarship will offer Clean Tech ECHS Marron and Will up to $2,000 each in scholarships throughout their four years of college. Each spring, Astria selects Clean Tech ECHS seniors to receive a $500 scholarship each semester, for a total of 8 semesters, provided they meet a minimum GPA requirement.

Both seniors were selected from a number of exceptional applicants based on a variety of factors: GPA, field of study, financial need, merit and recommendations. Mr. Will is active in a number of school and community activities: Eagle Scouts, Computer Club, Ski Club and National Honor Society. Mr. Marron is active in Robotics-Design Team, Tennis, Habitat for Humanity and Girls in STEM.

“It’s an honor to present our scholarship to two deserving students,” said Jeff Frankel, VP and principal with Astria Solutions Group. “Both young men are active in their communities and schools, exemplifying the kind of leadership skills that we hope to nurture going forward. We see our scholarships as an investment in tomorrow’s leaders.”

“We live in a data driven economy. The Clean Tech ECHS program helps today’s students learn the technologies and industries that needed for the next generation.” said Gregg Laird, VP and principal with Astria Solutions Group. “Our scholarship helps students who demonstrate outstanding leadership skills attain the education they need to effectively participate in tomorrow’s workforce.”

Marron will attend Hudson Valley Community College and Will plans to attend Clarkson in the fall of 2016.
